ADBU launches Bosco Emporio

Azara: Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) under the initiative of the Department of Social Work launched its Cooperative Store named Bosco Emporio here today 19 September 2015 in the presence of about a 1000 students and faculty of the university. ‘It has been in the discussion of the University and finally it has been actualised. It shall provide various quality services to the community of the university and the neighbourhood at an affordable rate’ said the Vice Chancellor of ADBU Dr. (Fr.) Mavely while launching the store.

The store is a unit of the Assam Don Bosco University Cooperative Society, 2015. The cooperative has members from faculty and students who have invested in shares. While it is an entrepreneurial venture of the university it also focuses on inculcating the students and faculty of the university with values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy,equality, equity and solidarity. The cooperative is based on the principles of  Voluntary and Open Membership, Democratic Member Control, Member Economic Participation, Autonomy and Independence,  Education, Training and Information, Co-operation among Co-operatives, Concern for Community.

‘Bosco Emporio is an integral part of the Cooperative Society and shall provide quality services at an affordable and lower rate than the market retail price’ said Ms. Shanti L. the coordinator of the initiative. The store has all stationery items and has plans to introduce art and crafts along with dresses from the last week of September 2015.
